Pavel Braila was born in 1971 Chisinau, Moldova, Pavel Braila quit his technical studies to become an artist. From 1996 onwards his work was displayed in several exhibitions around Moldova. By giving live performances, he is able to engage with the public, wich interests him most. Pavel enters the Van Eyk Academy in Maastricht, The Netherlands, but returns to Moldova as he feels his work is not understood by his fellow artist from western-Europe. Back in Moldova Braila starts to make artistic films. In 2002 his film Shoes for Europe is part of the selected artworks on documenta11.
