Maruša Sagadin

Maruša Sagadin was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She is a Vienna-based artist. Her practice centres on the relationship between language, architecture and sculpture, drawing inspiration from pop and subculture sources. Maruša Sagadin’s investigates sign systems and their formal language, taken from architecture as well as pop and subcultural sources, and re-contextualizes them; productively altering their meaning. Questions regarding the legibility and reading of these systems, as well as the associated notions of arbitrariness or freedom, continuously resurface in new garb throughout her work in the form of installation, performative interventions and text-based collage.
