Cezary Poniatowski was born in 1987. He is a graduate of the Graphics Faculty at the Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw. He is also a laureate of the 11th Geppert Competition. He works in painting and graphics in parallel, balancing on the edge of figuration and abstraction. Poniatowski’s style is synthetic and brief, despite the ornamental form and the suggestion of a narrative. In his pictures, characters and accessories of the post-apocalyptic world emerge from black, white and grey shapes, keeping a kind of dark humour. His language seems related to the new formalism; still, features of street art or comic strips are present.
