Adéla Janskà (b. 1981) is a Czech figurative painter who studied in Slovakia before returning to her hometown of Olomouc in Czech Republic. Revisiting the female nude and focusing on portraiture, Janskà’s work is challenging the traditional representation of femininity. Her doll- like characters act like symbols of femininity that are, in the end, unattainable. Deprived of physicality and beautifully perfect, her female nudes question erotism and stereotypes with intriguing faces.
