Simona Vidmar was born in 1971 in Slovenia, lives and works in Ljubljana). She gained an MA in Art History in Graz and an MA in Arts Management in London. After curating numerous exhibitions of international visual art, she is now head of Department for Contemporary Art at Umetnostna galerija Maribor/Maribor Art Gallery in Slovenia. Her interest lies mainly in the field of installation and new media art, design and architecture. In 2015 she was appointed the Commissioner of the Pavilion of Slovenia at the 56. Venice Biennale presenting the Slovene artist JAŠA with the multilayered installation project UTTER, The Violent Necessity of the Embodied Presence of Hope.
