Maja Ćirić is an award-winning independent curator and an art critic with significant experience in the international art world. Her curatorial practice, based on terms ofcriticality and post-globalism, complements the mainstream cultural production andproduces alternative knowledge about social, political and aesthetic transformations. Her theory and practice are challenging the dominant curatorial geopolitics. Since the 2020’sshe became more involved in pygital (physical and digital) projects, conferences and exhibitions in the hybrid field of art—science—and tech, she also curates in the metaverse as well. Ćirić has won the Lazar Trifunović Art Critic Award (Belgrade), the CEC ArtsLink Independent Projects Award (New York), the ISCP Curator Award (New York) and the Dedalus Foundation Curatorial Research Award (New York). She was the curator of the Serbian Pavilion at 52nd International Art Exhibition La Biennale diVenezia and the Commissioner of the Serbian Pavilion at the 55th International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia. She worked as a cultural developer in Dubai, UAE. She is a member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics), IKT (International association of curators of contemporary art) and ICI (Independent Curators International).
