Maja Ćirić is an award-winning independent curator and an art critic with significant
experience in the international art world. Her curatorial practice, based on terms of
criticality and post-globalism, complements the mainstream cultural production and
produces alternative knowledge about social, political and aesthetic transformations. Her
theory and practice are challenging the dominant curatorial geopolitics. Since the 2020’s
she became more involved in phygital (physical and digital) projects, conferences and
exhibitions in the hybrid field of art—science—and tech, and she curates in the
metaverse as well. Ćirić has won the Lazar Trifunović Art Critic Award (Belgrade), the
CEC ArtsLink Independent Projects Award (New York), the ISCP Curator Award (New
York) and the Dedalus Foundation Curatorial Research Award (New York). She was the
curator of the Serbian Pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennale and the Commissioner of the Serbian Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale. She worked as a cultural developer in Dubai, UAE.
She is a member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics), IKT (International
association of curators of contemporary art) and ICI (Independent Curators
International).
