Gordana Nikolić (b. 1979) is an art historian, writer and curator. She works at the
Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina in Novi Sad (MCAV) as a senior curator and she
has been running the Center for Film, Video and Photography at MCAV since 2006. The
main focus of her work is on the presentation, interpretation and historicisation of
contemporary art and (post-)digital culture, and above all on (new) media art and the
art of moving images. Beginning with independent/artistic film and video production in
Vojvodina, Nikolic initiated a long-term media archaeological research with the aim of
(re)constructing the cinematic history of the region, which forms the basis of the
MCAV's film and video art collection. As a part of the research, she co-authored the
exhibition and series of presentations entitled “Technology to the People!” (2013) presenting
around 150 art films and video productions of the region.
