Eszter Szakács

Eszter Szakács is an editor, curator and researcher based in Budapest. Since 2011 she works at tranzit.hu as a curator, and she is the co-editor of the online international art magazine Mezosfera. She has worked at Műcsarnok / Kunsthalle Budapest as an assistant curator between 2008-2010. From 2013 to 2016 she was a guest lecturer at the Art Theory and Curatorial Studies Department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. She is the co-editor of the book IMAGINATION/IDEA: The Beginning of Hungarian Conceptual Art—The László Beke Collection, 1971. She also curated the collaborative research project called Curatorial Dictionary. She was a team member of the East Europe Biennial Alliance – co-founded by OFF-Biennale Budapest – that collectively curated the Kyiv Biennial in 2021. Her main fields of interest include the histories of curating, the analysis of curatorial discourse, and the political in art.
